Journey Back to God: Embracing His Presence Today

As we continue our journey through the book of Exodus, I am reminded of the profound parallels between the children of Israel’s exodus from Egypt and our own spiritual journey. Just as God delivered the Israelites from the bondage of slavery, He calls us out of the slavery of this world and into a relationship with Him. This journey is not just about escaping something; it’s about coming unto the Lord and experiencing His presence in our lives.

In Exodus 19, we see a pivotal moment where God calls His people to Himself, emphasizing that the purpose of their deliverance was to bring them into a relationship with Him. This message is timeless and speaks directly to us today. Our salvation is not merely an escape from hell; it is an invitation to live in the presence of God, to be His treasured possession, and to walk in His ways.

Here are three next steps to help you embrace this journey and draw closer to God:

1. Consecrate Your Heart

Consecration is a heart issue. It begins with setting your heart on the things of God. Take time each day to dedicate your heart to Him. This can be through prayer, worship, or simply meditating on His Word. Ask God to reveal any areas of your life that need to be surrendered to Him. Remember, it’s not about cleaning up your life first; it’s about giving your heart to God and allowing Him to transform you from the inside out.

2. Engage in Daily Cleansing

Just as the Israelites were instructed to wash their garments and prepare themselves to meet God, we too need to engage in daily spiritual cleansing. This involves confessing our sins and seeking God’s forgiveness. It’s about living a life of repentance and continually turning away from the things that separate us from God. Make it a habit to examine your life regularly and ask God to cleanse you and make you holy.

3. Draw Near to God

James 4:8 tells us, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” This is a promise that we can hold onto. Make intentional efforts to draw near to God through prayer, reading the Bible, and spending time in His presence. Join a Bible study group, find a mentor, or participate in church activities that help you grow in your faith. The more you seek God, the more you will experience His presence and guidance in your life.

As you take these steps, remember that God’s desire is to have a personal relationship with you. He wants you to be His treasured possession, a holy priesthood, and a people set apart for His glory. Embrace this journey and allow God to work in your life in ways you never imagined.
